William G. Livesay papers, 1917-1947.

Contains information pertaining to the following wars: World War I (WWI), World War II (WWII), Greek Civil War. Contains information pertaining to the following military units and organizations: American Expeditionary Forces (AEF), 1st Division, 28th Infantry Regiment; 91st Infantry Division. General description of the collection: The William G. Livesay papers concern World War I (WWI) and the Greek Civil War. Official correspondence, reports, and historical studies concerning the 28th U.S. Infantry Regiment and the 1st Division, 1917-1919, relate to the earlier period. His diary (June 13-November 4, 1947) and miscellaneous official letters and papers (1947-1948) concern his role as chief U.S. army advisor in the Greek Civil War. Material on his World War II (WWII) service with the 91st Infantry Division is minimal, but a newspaper account of his battle at Livergnano in October 1944 is available. A large notebook of testimony and charts relating to his 1946 investigation of pay due to Filipinos for military service 1941-1946, is also on deposit. Another item is a list compiled in 1929 summarizing the careers of Livesay and the other 439 graduates of the First Provisional Class of the Officers Candidate School, Fort Leavenworth, 1916.
